Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Corithians part II
Theme: I Corth. 1:1: Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
I Corth. 2:1: And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
For I had decided that while I was with you I would speak of nothing but, the knowledge of Jesus Christ alone and the fact of his death upon the cross.
3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
Weakness: This weakness could be physical or utter dependence on God.
if it was physical no doubt the result of Paul's stripings, beatings, and other sufferings. (II Corth. 24:27). The fear and trembling could be a state of
mind, dreading lest he should grieve God and bring reproach upon truth.
4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
That your faith might have its foundation not in the wisdom of men
nor philosopy of men.
6Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
Perfect defined, GK: teleios: Here it is used of full growth, as men, and not
children in Christian knowledge thoroughly instructed and deeply
experienced.
7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
None of the rulers of this present world had come to know or understand it.
9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For The Spirit explores all things-even the inmost depths of God.
11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
a. For what human being can understand a man's thoughts except
that person himself.
b. So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God-except the Spirit
of God.
12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
a. We have not received the spirit that belongs to the world, but, the
Spirit that comes from God.
b. That we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.
c. That we might get insights into the blessings God has graciously given us.
13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
And we speak of these gifts not in language taught by human philosopy
but in the very words given us by The Holy Spirit.
14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
a. A man gifted with The Spirit can judge the real value because it takes
spiritual insight to see it's true value.
b. But his own true value no unspiritual man can see.
16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
a. For who has comprehended the mind of The Lord as to be able to
instruct him?
b. But we have the mind of Christ-we who are spiritual have the very
thoughts of Christ.
c. Our thoughts are Christ's thoughts.

I Corinthians teaching part 1
Background:
The date and place-written about 59 AD at he close of Paul's 3 year residence
at Ephesus. (reference scriptures; Acts 20:31, I Corth. 16:5-8).
The theme? Christian Life and Conduct: Even all of the doctrinal sections are
built around this theme. The occasion for writing this Epistle was a letter of inquiry
about certain doctrines, (reference scriptures, 7:1, 8:1-13) and the visit of some
brethren from Corinth, reporting on the conditions and different problems of the
church. (reference scriptures 1:11, 5:1, 11:18, 15:12)

A. Agree in what you profess.
B. Not allow yourself to be split into parties.
C. Be knit together and be achieving a unity.
D. I plead with you to be of the same mind.

12Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of
Cephas; and I of Christ.
13Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of
Paul?
14I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I
baptized any other.
17For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of
words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God.
A. Those who are doomed to perish find the story of the cross sheer folly.
B. But to us who are in the path of salvation it is the very Power of God.
19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the
understanding of the prudent.
20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath
not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
A. Has not God shown that the wisdom of this world is utter folly.
B. Has not God made foolish the Philosophy of the world.
21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased
God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
A. His message which the world called silly and foolish.
B. For God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never find God
through human brilliance.
22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the
Greeks foolishness;
24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God,
and the wisdom of God.
25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is
stronger than men.
A. This “so called” foolish plan of God is far wiser than the wisest plan of
the wisest man.
26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not
many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God
hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,
yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
A. God chose what the world counts poor and insignificant.
29That no flesh should glory in his presence.
A. And so there is no place for human pride in the presence of God.
30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Apostle Paul's Epistle to The Romans Part IV
Romans 1:18: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
hold (defined):
- Suppress
- Bridle
- They keep down the truth which they know, by the wickednesswhereby they live.
- Smothered the truth by their unbelief.
- By their wicked lies they are stifling the truth.
20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

16That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

TEXT:
Rom. 1:1: Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
Gal. 1:15; But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
Isa. 46:9: Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
MT. 6:6: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Get into your closet to pray
8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Rom. 8:15: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
For you did not receive the spirit of a slave, to fill you once more with fear.
a. But the Spirit which makes us sons in which we cry out my Father, my Dear Father.
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

:19: For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

:21: Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
At the present time all created life groans in a sort of universal trevail.
23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

:32: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
And...
:34: Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
A. Is sitting next to God pleading on our behalf.
B. Pleads our cause.
Rom. 11:33: O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
A. What a fathomless depth lies in the wisdom and knowledge of God.
B. How inexhaustible God's resouces.
34For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Rom. 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Luke 16:16: The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
Rom. 15:15:Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
