Psa. 11:3: If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Eph. 2:20: And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Jonah 3:1: And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

Acts 9:36:  Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.



37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.



39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.



40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.



41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.



In Conclusion



I Corth. 3:10:According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

I Corth 7:14:  For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

a. For perhaps the husband who isn't a Christina may become a Christian

with the help of his Christian wife.

b. Otherwise if a family separates, the children might never come to

know the Lord. But, for a family to stay together, may in God's plan,

result in the children's salvation.

c. It also refers to the Spiritual influence and Power the Christian

holds over the unbelieving companion.

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.



a. In such cases the Christian brother or sister is not tied to marriage
for God intended we live together in peace.



16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?



a. You may be your spouses salvation through your influence
as a Christian.



17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.



18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.



20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.



21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
a. Were you a slave when you heard the call? Or a bond-servant?
b. If you gain your freedom, make the most of your present
condition instead.



22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.



23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.



a. You have been bought and paid for.
b. Do not let yourselves become slaves of men.



24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.



25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.



a. Now as far as young, unmarried women are concerned, I must
confess I have no direct command from God.
b. Nevertheless, I give you my considered opinion as one who is
I think, to be trusted after all my experience of God's mercy.



26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.



a. I think then that in view of the time of suffering that has now
come upon us, it would be best for you to remain as you are.
27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.



28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.



a. Yet I do believe that those who take this step are bound to find
the married state an extra burden in these crucial days, and I should
like you to be as unencumbered as possible.



29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;



30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;



31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.



a. And those that are busy with worldly affairs, must not be
overly absorbed in them.



32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:



33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.



a. A married man has to think about his responsibilities, here on earth,
so his devotion is divided.



34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.



a. I say this for your benefit, I am not trying to keep you from
marrying.
b. So that your service to God may be as far as possibly free from
worldly distractions.



36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.



a. Talking about his Virgin Daughter, not his Virgin Sweetheart.



In the early times among both Jews and Christians, the
daughters were wholly in the power of their fathers, so that he
might give them in marriage or bind them to perpetual virginity.
If the father had dedicated his daughter to perpetual virginity,
and afterward found that she had her affections centered upon
a man, being strongly inclined to marry, he could change his
plans regarding virginity and give her in marriage at any time,
even after the flower of her age. He would not be committing
sin by changing his plans for her.



37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.



a. If the Father finds it unnecessary to betroth his virgin daughter
because of her being inclined NOT to marry and wanting to
consecrate both body and spirit, then let him keep his daughter
from marriage.

38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.



a. This proves that it is a father who gives or does not give his
virgin daughter in marriage.



39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.






40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.



a. I think, I am here expressing not only my opinion, but, The Will
of The Spirit of God as well.

Part I

I Corth. 7:1: Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.



3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.



Due benevolence (Greek interprentation): Kindness, Good will,
conjuical duty.



Vs 4: The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.



5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.



6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.(Paul is speaking by permission and not of commandment, because of his calling he is able to say these things.)



permission:

• I say this by way of concession, I am conceding, I am not
  

imposing a rule upon you.

• But, as I say this, I am yielding to you, not ordering you.
  

vs. 7: For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.



8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.
Paul was unmarried



9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.



Burn:(explained):

• It is better to marry than to be aflame with passion
  
• Have self control, have command of thy passions and
  appetites.
  

vs. 10:  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:



11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.



The Pharisees tried to trick/test Jesus in Matthew 9:3: The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?



4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,



5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?



6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?



8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.



9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.



10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.



11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.



12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.



Jesus referred to the Law of Moses in his answer: Dt. 24:1:When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.



2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.



3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;



4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.



Another reference and reason is found in Dt. 24:1: And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.



24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.



I Corth 7:12: But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. (Paul is not speaking to the world, they will do what they want to do, but the church needs this.)

• To the rest of the people, I myself would say-though the Lord himself
  had said nothing about it.
  
• For a brother who has a non Christian wife and she pleased to dwell
  with him, let him not leave.
  

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

Adam created to live forever (Gen. 1:25). Why would God create oldness in a being created in His Image?

Gen. 2:15: And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Natural Force: Freshness, vigor, eye was not dim. His skin on his cheeks were not wrinkled and his freshness hadn't fled. (Hebrew word/meaning: undried and moist).



Dt. 8:4:Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. ***God didn't even want their clothes old, when they left Egypt.

Life is forever provided for



I Corth. 15:22:For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

I Corinthians 3:1: And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Mere infants in the faith of Christ


 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Even now you still have to be fed on milk

 3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

A. You are still of a worldly attitude
B. You are still controlled by your own desires

 4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

 5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

 6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

 7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

 8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
 9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

Husbandry: You belong to god as His Field to be tilled, as his
building to be built, a structure of God's design.


 10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

Masterbuilder (defined):
A. Architect
B. The plan belonged to God, but the execution of the plan was
entrusted to Paul.

 11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

Whoever he is let him be careful how he builds

 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

Works are compared to these materials; gold, silver, precious stones,
wood, hay, stubble. Some become pure in the fire and others are
completely burned up. Fire will try every man's work. If his are gold,
silver, and precious stones, they will abide the fire and he will receive
a reward for his works. If they are wood, hay, and stubble, his works
will be burned up, yet he, himself will be saved from the loss of his soul.

 14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Judgment of the believer works and the time of this judgment is
between the rapture and the 2nd coming.
The place of this judgment is in heaven (Rom. 14:10 and II Corth 5:10)

 16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

 18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

God uses man's own brilliance to trap him. He traps the wise in their own
cunning.

 20And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

 21Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;

Let none of you make his boast in men. Everything belongs to you.

 22Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;

He gives you All of the present and All of the future.
 23And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

But you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.
